1. Madrid, Spain

No list of major European cities is complete without mentioning the Spanish capital city of Madrid. Home to two major powerhouses in Europe, Madrid also has two of the best stadiums in world football. Both Real Madrid and Atletico Madrid have stadiums that are worthy to host major European nights, Santiago Bernabéu and the Wanda Metropolitano. 6. Paris, France

Another romantic city on the list is Paris, the City of Love, also home to footballing giants Paris Saint-Germain. The Parc des Princes stadium is full for every game including in the Champions League and Ligue 1. Paris is a great destination as a football fan, if your partner enjoys football, this is a great city to visit. Enjoy the city in the day and go to the game in the night.  The biggest landmarks in Paris are the Eiffel Tower, Notre-Dame Cathedral, and the Louvre Museum, all of which are highly recommended.

7. Lisbon, Portugal

The Portuguese capital city of Lisbon is next on the list and is also a great city to visit for a major European night. Whether your team plays SL Benfica or Sporting CP (Lisbon), the city has a great and warming atmosphere to international visitors. Explore the city on foot and try some local cuisine before the game and after the game head downtown to one of the main areas including the Bairro Alto neighbourhood to finish the evening in style. The city is one of the most affordable on the list and has accomodation budgets for all fans. 8. Liverpool, England

Another destination for international visitors is Liverpool, home of the mighty Liverpool FC. Should you have the opportunity to watch a European match in the city, you should definitely go. The port city, located in North West of the UK is another footballing city with Liverpool and Everton being the main teams. Anfield Stadium has seen some amazing games in previous years and for European nights, this is something else. Buying Liverpool FC Europa League tickets or UEFA Champions League is recommended before traveling, ideally from your club.
